Acne Makeup Saviours!

With it being a cheeky Bank Holiday weekend, I thought I would throw an extra little post in there for you all!

Throughout Secondary School and even College, I was the girl who yes had the odd hormonal breakout (who doesn't) but generally had clear, nice skin, but recently over the last 6 weeks out of no where I have developed acne and I wouldn't say its severe but its certainly not mild. (I am now on anti-biotics and hoping to see some changes/improvements soon!)

Having acne, has been a real bummer for me because I am not someone who puts tonnes of makeup on at all, I love a natural makeup look which is quick and easy and I never really wore foundation and if I did it was a light weight one...anyway, acne has meant nothing but FULL COVERAGE. I have got constant red, inflamed spots on my face with dark spots/scars, and no light weight product I used to use, is covering anything and if it does...it doesn't last all day. So I have been having to put tonnes of concealer over my usual BB Creams and tonnes of powder on top in the hope it would cover my skin all day. Yes, CAKEY...until now.

I have been using the Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream in conjunction with the Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray and I am never looking back.

The CC Cream is £9.99 which is a fairly average price for a drugstore face product but recently this product has been like gold dust to me and could not be without it. It has 3 colour correctors in it; Apricot for Anti-Fatigue, Green for Anti-redness and White for Anti-dark spots. When I put this on my face in the morning, I can (somedays) feel confident enough to go out with just the CC Cream on and no concealer on my acne...get my drift on how amazing it is?!

The next hurdle I had was the huge amount of powder I was putting on to keep it all in place, clogging up my pores and making me look cakey, I then (on the same day as finding the CC Cream!) went to Urban Decay for an eyeliner, but came out with this amazing setting spray. I put my CC Cream on, spray this and everything looks exactly as it did in the morning, that evening. No more powder, no more cakeyness, just long lasting colour correcting makeup to conceal all the nasty parts of acne! I got the setting spray in the travel size to try it for £9.00, but the full size is £20.00...which I will definitely be going back for!

I am going to be doing a Makeup Menu soon featuring these two products and I will (bravely) put on a before an after picture so you can see the huge difference they make!

Nail Magic | JICA

When the lovely JICA asked me to try and review their Nail Magic, I was beyond over the moon due to the fact that my nails were in the worst condition ever. Nail Magic is a nail hardener and conditioner which helps to repair weak and damaged nails.

The idea is to use the nail polish twice a week for the first 8 weeks either as a base coat, top coat or just a clear nail varnish on its own. After 8 weeks, the use should be continued to just once a week. I have been using the polish for around 6 weeks now, and the difference in my nails is incredible.

BEFORE:

As you can see my nails are incredibly dry, brittle and they also were so weak they just bent and snapped all the time. Even something as simple as scratching my arm my nails couldn't handle. My nails couldn't grow and stay long because they were just so weak and would snap all the time. I needed some nail help and fast.

AFTER 6 WEEKS:

As you can see, my nails are no where near as dry, the are 100x stronger to the point where my mum has noticed as well. My nails are able to grow because they are strong whereas before there was no chance. I am absolutely amazed by this product and would honestly continue to buy this product over and over again because this is the only nail product which has helped my nail condition improve.

I am over the moon with the results from this product and I love wearing nail varnish and showing off my new long, strong and beautiful nails. This product is retailed at £10.45, which is on the more pricey side but if you have had any of the nail troubles I have had, you will NOT regret buying it, and considering the constant use for the last 6 weeks, the bottle barely looks touched so I can see Nail Magic is going to be with me for a while.

Have you tried Nail Magic?
Do you like the look of this?

What's been happening?

Over the last week, I have been pretty bad at posting when I said I would, posting late at night and being very inactive on twitter...I'm sure this has been a little noticeable.

Thursday 14th August was my A Level results day and for the past week I have honestly been the most nervous all over the place, person ever and I haven't really been concentrating due to stress and being so anxious.

However I thought it was time I shared my news...I have been offered a place for Bath Spa University for September to do Primary Education and I am so so happy and excited about the future. I can't wait to start this adventure and bring you lovely blogger chums of mine along for the ride (I won't be giving up That Curly Girl, do not worry!).

Now the most important day is over and I have got so much to look forward to and also so much to catch up on on my blog! So, I am back, and will be properly posting as of now! There will be lots of home-ware style hauls as I have SO much to buy before leaving for uni!

I can't wait to bring you on this exciting journey with me and thank you for being patient with me through be the most awful blogger in history!

What have you been doing this week?
Are there any particular posts or reviews you would like to see from me?
Any tips for me before going to Uni?

GUEST POST #5 - Skincare Routine | Terrible Thrills

I have the beauty bloggers to thank for my skincare routine. Without them, I'd still be using my cleansing wipes to remove my makeup and thinking that was good enough. How wrong I was! I'd noticed that my skin was constantly dry and tired looking, so I finally decided to do something about it, and take the bloggers' advice. Now I've been using this morning routine and have definitely noticed a vast improvement in my skin. I just wish I'd started using it sooner!

Firstly, I wash my face using the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash (around £3). This face wash is amazing, and I'd highly recommend it to anybody with dry skin. My skin always feels so lovely and moisturised after using it, and it's great for waking up your tired face in the morning! Another thing I love about this product is the fact that it's 100% soap free, because I've found that using soap on my face can dry it out even more and cause blemishes, so this facial wash is ideal, especially for dry skin.

Next I use this Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Scrub (around £3). This is the product I am most impressed by, since the results were almost instantly noticeable. Once I started using this I noticed a huge improvement in my skin! I use it twice everyday and my skin stays clear of blackheads. I recommend this to everyone, seriously, it's amaaaazing.

I will then use this Simple Kind To Skin Foaming Cleanser (around £4.50). This is also very moisturising which is why it appealed to me, and leaves my skin feeling really soft and completely clean. This is the product I will use before anything else at night, in order to take off all my makeup before washing my face, and it does the job well. Although, I still use cleansing wipes to take off my eye makeup, especially waterproof mascara (Disclaimer - I'm looking into getting eye makeup remover- I know how some beauty bloggers feel about cleansing wipes!) But as a cleanser, I would highly recommend!

And finally in my skincare routine I use this Simple Kind To Skin Rich Moisturiser (around £4), which is by far the best moisturiser I've ever used. You can feel how moisturising it is, but it doesn't take too long to absorb either. So it's perfect if you don't want to wait to do your makeup in the morning or go straight to bed at night! I love this product, and will definitely repurchase.

Lastly, Simple Kind To Skin Facial Wipes, (around £3). Even though cleansing wipes are apparently bad for your skin, I still think they're really handy and perfect for removing eye makeup, so I don't think I'm going to stop using these anytime soon. If you also like to use cleansing wipes, then I would recommend these since they're really soft and gentle on your skin.

And that's the end of my skincare routine! I hope you enjoyed reading and found a product you might like to try. Thank you to Jess for letting me write this on her blog, and I hope to see some of you on mine! Seren x  | Terrible Thrills

Tuesday's Top 5 | Makeup Revolution

Another heart felt apology from the worst blogger in the world ever. I am sorry my Tuesday's Top 5 is yet again late (I should really change it to a Wednesday series!), but better late than never aye?

So todays' (well yesterdays) top 5 is going to be my top 5 products from a brand I am totally loving at the moment...Makeup Revolution. In the blogger world, people have been going nuts about this amazing brand which comes at the most affordable prices ever and are products of incredibly high quality.

1. Amazing Lipgloss - Crystal; you can't beat a clear lipgloss with a slight hint of shimmer in to just throw on when going out and at just £1, what more can you ask for? I loved it so much, I decided to get 2 of them!

2. Vivid Blush Lacquer - Rush; I am totally loving cream blushes at the moment and I had this in my drawer and since my holiday been using this non-stop. One thing I have learnt in using this is that a little goes a LONG way, but I am loving this and want to get it in many more colours.

3. Iconic 3 Palette; this is the famous Iconic 3 palette that has been driving the blogging world nutty - a complete dupe for the new Naked 3 Palette that only costs £4 instead of £37. The colour pay off is incredible considering how inexpensive it is and if you have more oily eyelids just dab a little bit of Focus & Fix Eye Primer on before hand, I reach for this over my Naked 3 every-time.

4. Baked Bronzer - Rock; this gives me an amazing bronzed, glowing and healthy colour with slight highlight colourings running through as well. Its incredibly pigmented and on my first use did discover this by accident! My mum uses this nearly everyday too and she loves it almost as much as I do!

5. Nail Polish - Love Etc; I have 7 of their nail polishes and they are truly the best nail polishes I own, they dry SO quickly meaning I don't smudge them and they also last so well, even with just one coat of polish. There are 40 different shades to choose from meaning there is a colour for everyone and again at just £1, how can you say no?

It Never Rains in Spain, Except for on the Plane

I can't believe this weekend marks being home 2 weeks from the beautiful sun, sea and sand from Spain! And with the rain pouring against my window and today being a pjs/blogging day, I thought it was the perfect day to share some pictures from my trip!

We went to Javea, which is the north of the Costa Blanca region where there is plenty of sun, sea all around and not to mention wonderful hot sand forever under your feet. Yes, you can clearly understand that it was paradise!

As you can see, the churches in the towns in Spain are truly beautiful and although I only managed to photograph a couple, we saw so many, and speaking of many, I think I took too many selfies on this trip too! Whoops!

If you are interested in my makeup or outfits in any of the pictures, feel free to drop me a comment and I will let you know what I'm wearing!

So there is a little snippet from my holiday for you all, it feels like I have been back for months already! Also, I am sorry that my Thursday/Friday schedule wasn't posted this week, I was away visiting family and had no internet, but Friday's guest post went up yesterday instead which you can see here.

What have you been doing this week?
Have you been on holiday anywhere nice this summer?

GUEST POST #4 - Top 5 Summer Lip Products | A Bit of This and That

Thanks to the lovely Jess for allowing me to guest post on her blog! I'm Iram and like many others in the beauty blogging world, have an unhealthy obsession with make up. Today's post is going to be my Top 5 Summer Lip Products.

I'm one of those people who sticks to one lip colour in a billion different shades, some choose nudes or reds but I choose pink.

My first product is the Blistex  lip massage. I picked this up because I was in a rush and it was the first thing I saw. I use it as a base for a lipstick or on its own to moisturise my lips. You roll the bottom of the tube like a chapstick and product comes out. The applicator is a weird sort of tapered lipgloss applicator. Its not hard plastic but its not spongy either, I'd say its a soft rubber. The top has grooves that 'massage' your lips but dont really do anything and collects gunk like other lip products youre already wearing. The product itself is like a gel and leaves your lips feeling smooth as a babys bottom!

I love using the NYX matt lip cream in the shade Antwerp. Its a baby pink shade that can be applied subtly or as a bold light pink in two coats. Its not a lipgloss or a lipstick but applies smooth and dries as a matt lipstick. I don't find that it smudges and it lasts for a few hours. It smells really sweet but the only downside is you have to exfoliate your lips before using it or it can accentuate your dry chapped lips.

Benefit Posie Tint is still one of my most loved lip products. Its not scented and appears to be sort of fluorescent pink but it gives a perfect light tint of colour or a bold pink. I love that you can keep it matt or add a gloss on top.

MAC Crosswires is a cremesheen pink/coral colour. As its cremesheen it applies smoothly and leaves a subtle shine, it can accentuate chapped lips if you rub your lips together but I avoid doing that. Its a gorgeous summery shade and will suit all skin tones.

Lastly is the Rimmel London Apocalips in the shade Apocaliptic. The day they came out I ran to Boots and obviously picked up a pink. It applies in a satin finish but can get a bit drying after a few hours. The lasting power is amazing and I found that I only have to apply it maybe three times max throughout the day. They are EXTREMELY pigmented and not at all sticky.

That's all for my Top 5 Summer Lip Products, comment down below and tell me yours!

Tuesday's Top 5 #2 | Brushes

I firstly want to apologise that my Tuesday's Top 5 post is a day late, yesterday I had a bit of a bad day so didn't fancy editing and finishing the post...I hope you can forgive me!

Tuesday's Top 5 #2 is all about my top 5 brushes, these are probably the only brushes I use despite having the amount I do.

1. Liz Earle Powder Brush - I use this for putting my powder on (obviously) and normally bronzer after, it picks up the perfect amount of product without it being cakey on my face. Its insanely soft on the face too which is a definite plus and at £20 you can't go wrong.

2. Real Techniques Buffing Brush - I love this brush, it makes foundation application flawless and the most easy job when doing my makeup. It's perfect and would never use a foundation brush again. The only disadvantage to this brush is you can only get it in the Real Techniques 'Core Collection' which is £20.99 and not as a stand alone brush.

3. Real Techniques Contour Brush - This again is part of the Real Techniques 'Core Collection' and can't be found as a stand alone brush, but I love this brush so much. I don't actually use it to contour, as you can see in the picture it's pink, I use it for my blush. Its the perfect size for the apples of my cheeks and puts the right amount of colour on too.

4. M.A.C 217 Blending Brush - this brush is sold as a blending brush for eyeshadows. I am not someone who wears eyeshadows on a day to day basis purely because its too much effort (lazy I know), so I use this for concealer. The brush hairs are densely packed meaning not too much product is distributed and the oval shape makes it perfect for buffing in concealer under the eyes and on blemishes.

5. Bobbi Brown Eye Brow Brush - I could not go a day without putting on my eyebrows, it makes me feel so much better about myself and this is the only brush I ever turn to, to do it. It makes my brows look natural and more defined and 10x better than they actually are!

What brushes are staple in your makeup routine?
Any brushes you would recommend for me to try out?
