Clinique's the Word...

So the last time I posted about my acne makeup saviours I spoke about the Bourjois CC Cream and the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. Since that post about my acne, I have been trying a new treatment (which so far is appearing to help) but it has meant my skin is pretty darn red (tomato style) and incredibly dry meaning the two products which previously were working, now aren't as effectively.

The first product I've been using over the past few weeks is the Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base. With my skin being so red from the treatment, I have been finding my usual makeup routine hasn't been covering the redness enough. This makeup primer, with a sheer green tint to it, visually corrects the redness and evens out my skin tone. It works so well under my makeup and to make this product work even more for me, its oil free and has SPF15.

The second product I have been using and loving is the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream. CC Creams work to colour correct, when having acne, my skin can be really red one day, dark spots another and look really dull another. The colour correcting technology helps me combat all of these days, and along with having SPF 30 and being oil free means its perfect to protect my skin and make it look the best it can. As well as colour correcting, this CC Cream is part of the moisture surge line Clinique do, meaning my dry skin will stay hydrated all day.

With these two products by my side, my skin is going to be so prepared and ready for winter and will feel comfortable not tight. I think I have may have found some new acne saviours!

Have you tried either of these products?
Do you love Clinique as much as me/whats your favourite product?

Sisterhood of the World - Blogger Award!

I can only apologise again for my awful posting skills! Its been nearly a month and I really have no excuse, I hope you can forgive me and I hand on heart promise, I am going to be better and I am so grateful that I still have some readers left!

So, I have been nominated by lovely Beck from the gorgeous blog Revior for the Sisterhood of the World Award...make sure you check her totally wonderful blog out (after reading this of course...I'm kidding!) I love doing things like this so I am super excited!

The Rules:

-Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
-Put the award logo on your blog.
-Answer the ten questions they have set you.
-Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
-Nominate ten people.

Beck's Questions:

1. Which celeb do you take your fashion or makeup inspiration from?
If you call you-tubers celebs than Anna from Vivanna Does Makeup is my No.1 inspiration for both! Otherwise, Hilary Duff's makeup I always have loved and Blake Lively, both naturally flawless!

2. Would you rather wear lipstick or eyeliner?
LIPSTICK. I love it, there is a colour for everything and when you feel poo and then put on that favourite lipstick...the world is right again!

3. Are you a skirt or trouser kinda person?
Trouser...however I am trying to break into the world of skirts and mix it up a bit.

4. Bold lips or eyes for a night out?
Eyes everytime, a night out involves eating or drinking or both...lipstick comes off or smudges and I am that lazy gal who can't be bothered to keep retouching the lippy, whereas the eyes don't move.

5. Do you have any beauty products that you use every day?
Sort of, my Clinique CC Cream, and my Makeup Revolution Brow Kit are always used - but I do love mixing my makeup up on a daily basis, so you won't find many products staying the same!

6. What are you top 3 makeup products?
Makeup Revolution Brow Kit, Liz Earle Loose Setting Powder and everything from Bare Minerals (cheating I know)...such gems.

7. Do you match your lipstick with your outfit?
Haha, no. I have 90% orange shades in my collection and the other 10% are types of nudes.

8. Whats your favourite item of clothing?
My new Gilet....oh my god so snug.

9. Have you ever been disappointed with a makeup product?
Too often, I try foundations more than anything, on the hunt for the perfect base however so many base products aren't what they say they are...:(

10. Whats the worst hairstyle you've ever tried?
Imagine this...I have curly hair (afro like at times), its just past the shoulders with a lot of frizz going on, so go on younger Jess, put a full fringe in and straighten it...oh yes and leave the rest of your hair SUPER curly...totally hot.

My questions:

1. Heels or flats on a night out?
2. Whats one product (high end or drugstore) you really want to try/have in your life?
3. Did you have a makeup no no that you used to do all the time when you were younger?
4. What is your favourite makeup brand?
5. If you could only have 3 products in your makeup bag for the rest of your life...what would they be?
6. What product could you not go a day without using?
7. Favourite scent/fragrance?
8. What is your dream job?
9. Whats on the top of your 'need to get' list right now?
10. What product will you always repurchase?

Where have I been? | UPDATE

Wow, it has been just under 2 months since I have posted on my gorgeous blog and if I am honest, I am surprised I even have any followers left, I have been such a bad blogger and for that I cannot apologise enough. So I thought I would come on today and just explain whats been going on the past weeks.

So end of August was a pretty rough time, I lost someone in my family and obviously it was a very emotional time meaning blogging really was the last thing on my mind (how I hate to say it), following that event, I then went on a holiday for a week, but because the weeks before hand had been pretty traumatic for me, I had no blog posts prepared meaning nothing to post whilst away. It s a poor excuse but the wifi wasn't strong enough for me to write and edit posts whilst away...

Then I came back from my holiday and within 5 days of coming home, I was moving to University, meaning packing up my whole life and moving to Bath. It has been a roller-coaster journey, its crazy! I can't believe I am about to start my 4th week here, however since being here I have learnt how much work and reading I am having to do - naively didn't quite expect this much so whenever I have been having a quiet moment, I have found that I don't want to be sat at a screen typing some more, meaning no blog posts.

So, what's next for That Curly Girl? I am going to try and post something once a week and that will most likely be on a Sunday and anything else I have the time to throw out there in between if I fancy, you will have to bare with me in getting myself back into this but I will get there.

To end this blog post, I thought I would share a little snippit and a few piccies of my Freshers week with my new flatmates!

What do you want to see posted from me next? (leave any requests in comments or on twitter @thatcurlyygirl)
What have you been up to whilst I have been so absent?

Acne Makeup Saviours!

With it being a cheeky Bank Holiday weekend, I thought I would throw an extra little post in there for you all!

Throughout Secondary School and even College, I was the girl who yes had the odd hormonal breakout (who doesn't) but generally had clear, nice skin, but recently over the last 6 weeks out of no where I have developed acne and I wouldn't say its severe but its certainly not mild. (I am now on anti-biotics and hoping to see some changes/improvements soon!)

Having acne, has been a real bummer for me because I am not someone who puts tonnes of makeup on at all, I love a natural makeup look which is quick and easy and I never really wore foundation and if I did it was a light weight one...anyway, acne has meant nothing but FULL COVERAGE. I have got constant red, inflamed spots on my face with dark spots/scars, and no light weight product I used to use, is covering anything and if it doesn't last all day. So I have been having to put tonnes of concealer over my usual BB Creams and tonnes of powder on top in the hope it would cover my skin all day. Yes, CAKEY...until now.

I have been using the Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream in conjunction with the Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray and I am never looking back.

The CC Cream is £9.99 which is a fairly average price for a drugstore face product but recently this product has been like gold dust to me and could not be without it. It has 3 colour correctors in it; Apricot for Anti-Fatigue, Green for Anti-redness and White for Anti-dark spots. When I put this on my face in the morning, I can (somedays) feel confident enough to go out with just the CC Cream on and no concealer on my acne...get my drift on how amazing it is?!

The next hurdle I had was the huge amount of powder I was putting on to keep it all in place, clogging up my pores and making me look cakey, I then (on the same day as finding the CC Cream!) went to Urban Decay for an eyeliner, but came out with this amazing setting spray. I put my CC Cream on, spray this and everything looks exactly as it did in the morning, that evening. No more powder, no more cakeyness, just long lasting colour correcting makeup to conceal all the nasty parts of acne! I got the setting spray in the travel size to try it for £9.00, but the full size is £20.00...which I will definitely be going back for!

I am going to be doing a Makeup Menu soon featuring these two products and I will (bravely) put on a before an after picture so you can see the huge difference they make!

Have you tried either of these?

Nail Magic | JICA

When the lovely JICA asked me to try and review their Nail Magic, I was beyond over the moon due to the fact that my nails were in the worst condition ever. Nail Magic is a nail hardener and conditioner which helps to repair weak and damaged nails.

The idea is to use the nail polish twice a week for the first 8 weeks either as a base coat, top coat or just a clear nail varnish on its own. After 8 weeks, the use should be continued to just once a week. I have been using the polish for around 6 weeks now, and the difference in my nails is incredible.

As you can see my nails are incredibly dry, brittle and they also were so weak they just bent and snapped all the time. Even something as simple as scratching my arm my nails couldn't handle. My nails couldn't grow and stay long because they were just so weak and would snap all the time. I needed some nail help and fast.

As you can see, my nails are no where near as dry, the are 100x stronger to the point where my mum has noticed as well. My nails are able to grow because they are strong whereas before there was no chance. I am absolutely amazed by this product and would honestly continue to buy this product over and over again because this is the only nail product which has helped my nail condition improve.

I am over the moon with the results from this product and I love wearing nail varnish and showing off my new long, strong and beautiful nails. This product is retailed at £10.45, which is on the more pricey side but if you have had any of the nail troubles I have had, you will NOT regret buying it, and considering the constant use for the last 6 weeks, the bottle barely looks touched so I can see Nail Magic is going to be with me for a while.

Have you tried Nail Magic?
Do you like the look of this?

What's been happening?

Over the last week, I have been pretty bad at posting when I said I would, posting late at night and being very inactive on twitter...I'm sure this has been a little noticeable.

Thursday 14th August was my A Level results day and for the past week I have honestly been the most nervous all over the place, person ever and I haven't really been concentrating due to stress and being so anxious.

However I thought it was time I shared my news...I have been offered a place for Bath Spa University for September to do Primary Education and I am so so happy and excited about the future. I can't wait to start this adventure and bring you lovely blogger chums of mine along for the ride (I won't be giving up That Curly Girl, do not worry!).

Now the most important day is over and I have got so much to look forward to and also so much to catch up on on my blog! So, I am back, and will be properly posting as of now! There will be lots of home-ware style hauls as I have SO much to buy before leaving for uni!

I can't wait to bring you on this exciting journey with me and thank you for being patient with me through be the most awful blogger in history!

What have you been doing this week?
Are there any particular posts or reviews you would like to see from me?
Any tips for me before going to Uni?

GUEST POST #5 - Skincare Routine | Terrible Thrills

I have the beauty bloggers to thank for my skincare routine. Without them, I'd still be using my cleansing wipes to remove my makeup and thinking that was good enough. How wrong I was! I'd noticed that my skin was constantly dry and tired looking, so I finally decided to do something about it, and take the bloggers' advice. Now I've been using this morning routine and have definitely noticed a vast improvement in my skin. I just wish I'd started using it sooner!

Firstly, I wash my face using the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash (around £3). This face wash is amazing, and I'd highly recommend it to anybody with dry skin. My skin always feels so lovely and moisturised after using it, and it's great for waking up your tired face in the morning! Another thing I love about this product is the fact that it's 100% soap free, because I've found that using soap on my face can dry it out even more and cause blemishes, so this facial wash is ideal, especially for dry skin.

Next I use this Garnier Pure Active Blackhead Scrub (around £3). This is the product I am most impressed by, since the results were almost instantly noticeable. Once I started using this I noticed a huge improvement in my skin! I use it twice everyday and my skin stays clear of blackheads. I recommend this to everyone, seriously, it's amaaaazing.

I will then use this Simple Kind To Skin Foaming Cleanser (around £4.50). This is also very moisturising which is why it appealed to me, and leaves my skin feeling really soft and completely clean. This is the product I will use before anything else at night, in order to take off all my makeup before washing my face, and it does the job well. Although, I still use cleansing wipes to take off my eye makeup, especially waterproof mascara (Disclaimer - I'm looking into getting eye makeup remover- I know how some beauty bloggers feel about cleansing wipes!) But as a cleanser, I would highly recommend!

And finally in my skincare routine I use this Simple Kind To Skin Rich Moisturiser (around £4), which is by far the best moisturiser I've ever used. You can feel how moisturising it is, but it doesn't take too long to absorb either. So it's perfect if you don't want to wait to do your makeup in the morning or go straight to bed at night! I love this product, and will definitely repurchase.

Lastly, Simple Kind To Skin Facial Wipes, (around £3). Even though cleansing wipes are apparently bad for your skin, I still think they're really handy and perfect for removing eye makeup, so I don't think I'm going to stop using these anytime soon. If you also like to use cleansing wipes, then I would recommend these since they're really soft and gentle on your skin.

And that's the end of my skincare routine! I hope you enjoyed reading and found a product you might like to try. Thank you to Jess for letting me write this on her blog, and I hope to see some of you on mine! Seren x  | Terrible Thrills

Tuesday's Top 5 | Makeup Revolution

Another heart felt apology from the worst blogger in the world ever. I am sorry my Tuesday's Top 5 is yet again late (I should really change it to a Wednesday series!), but better late than never aye?

So todays' (well yesterdays) top 5 is going to be my top 5 products from a brand I am totally loving at the moment...Makeup Revolution. In the blogger world, people have been going nuts about this amazing brand which comes at the most affordable prices ever and are products of incredibly high quality.

1. Amazing Lipgloss - Crystal; you can't beat a clear lipgloss with a slight hint of shimmer in to just throw on when going out and at just £1, what more can you ask for? I loved it so much, I decided to get 2 of them!

2. Vivid Blush Lacquer - Rush; I am totally loving cream blushes at the moment and I had this in my drawer and since my holiday been using this non-stop. One thing I have learnt in using this is that a little goes a LONG way, but I am loving this and want to get it in many more colours.

3. Iconic 3 Palette; this is the famous Iconic 3 palette that has been driving the blogging world nutty - a complete dupe for the new Naked 3 Palette that only costs £4 instead of £37. The colour pay off is incredible considering how inexpensive it is and if you have more oily eyelids just dab a little bit of Focus & Fix Eye Primer on before hand, I reach for this over my Naked 3 every-time.

4. Baked Bronzer - Rock; this gives me an amazing bronzed, glowing and healthy colour with slight highlight colourings running through as well. Its incredibly pigmented and on my first use did discover this by accident! My mum uses this nearly everyday too and she loves it almost as much as I do!

5. Nail Polish - Love Etc; I have 7 of their nail polishes and they are truly the best nail polishes I own, they dry SO quickly meaning I don't smudge them and they also last so well, even with just one coat of polish. There are 40 different shades to choose from meaning there is a colour for everyone and again at just £1, how can you say no?

Have you tried any Makeup Revolution Products?
Which are your favourites?

It Never Rains in Spain, Except for on the Plane

I can't believe this weekend marks being home 2 weeks from the beautiful sun, sea and sand from Spain! And with the rain pouring against my window and today being a pjs/blogging day, I thought it was the perfect day to share some pictures from my trip!

We went to Javea, which is the north of the Costa Blanca region where there is plenty of sun, sea all around and not to mention wonderful hot sand forever under your feet. Yes, you can clearly understand that it was paradise!

As you can see, the churches in the towns in Spain are truly beautiful and although I only managed to photograph a couple, we saw so many, and speaking of many, I think I took too many selfies on this trip too! Whoops!

If you are interested in my makeup or outfits in any of the pictures, feel free to drop me a comment and I will let you know what I'm wearing!

So there is a little snippet from my holiday for you all, it feels like I have been back for months already! Also, I am sorry that my Thursday/Friday schedule wasn't posted this week, I was away visiting family and had no internet, but Friday's guest post went up yesterday instead which you can see here.

What have you been doing this week?
Have you been on holiday anywhere nice this summer?
